David Beckham took up beekeeping as a hobby during lockdown and reaffirmed his love for the new activity while harvesting honey this week.

The former footballer shared a video of himself harvesting on Saturday to mark World Bee Day and said in the caption that the hobby has become a big part of his life.

“What a buzzzz, who would have thought harvesting honey would become my favorite thing to do?” the star wrote to her 75 million followers.

Beckham documented his first forays into beekeeping on social media during the pandemic lockdown in 2020, building a series of hives at his home in the Cotswolds and involving the family.

It seems his wife Victoria, however, isn’t so fond of some elements of her husband’s new hobby, writing in a comment below his video that she wasn’t happy with his attire.

“Please don’t wear this jumpsuit at home,” she wrote alongside the red face and crying and laughing emoji.

Victoria has already supported her hobby, sharing a video earlier this year in which she remarked on David doing a photo shoot with his bees.

She said: “He’s so cute. He’s literally walking around loving and caring for his little bee friends. Taking a selfie with his bees. Squatting for his bees. He’s going to get stung in a minute.”

Beckham hasn’t made any public announcements about monetizing his hobby, but it was reported in 2020 that the 47-year-old could launch his own brand of organic honey.

Entrepreneurship runs in the family, it seems, with Beckham’s son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, revealing this month that he hopes to turn his love for cooking into a business.

He said: “I would like to have my own pub. I would like to have my own sauces, knives, pots and pans. Not like a chef – I will always learn cooking.

“I want to have as many TV shows and I hope to one day open a pub in LA, because LA needs a pub.”
